Euclid Avenue Trash Can Project

Euclid Avenue is a main thoroughfare in Syracuse, New York for students commuting to and from the university. Our team of three was prompted to design a trash can for Euclid Avenue that would be able to withstand the harsh weather conditions of Syracuse, as well as the hard use of students.

At the time there were no trash receptacles on the street and there was only a small effort by the permanent community to keep it looking clean.

The process began with sketching and small models.

Once we settled on a design that met our criteria, we moved to digitally modeling the trash can.

Finally, we moved to renders to understand the trash can in its final space.

Currently, four trash cans reside on Euclid Avenue with more to come. They all became canvas' for local artists to both decorate and liven the walk to campus, as well as, keep the neighborhood clean for the permanent community and students.
